PDF Studio guide
What it is for
PDF Studio edits existing text, adds annotations, fills forms, organises pages and recognises scanned text locally.
Before you start
Open a PDF. Exact editing depends on its embedded fonts and text layer; scans need OCR and should be reviewed carefully.
Step by step
- Choose Open PDF, then use page navigation or the zoom controls.
- Choose Edit text to replace existing embedded or recognised text.
- Choose Add text to create a new positioned annotation.
- Use Highlight, Draw or Fill for visual annotations and form fields.
- Choose OCR, select one of seven languages and press Recognise text for a scanned page.
- Select recognised text in the Edit tab, change it and review the page.
- Use Properties and Annotations to inspect the selection and placed edits.
- Choose Download PDF for the finished document or Project JSON to preserve editable PeachSoft annotations.
What you get
Download PDF creates a PDF. Project JSON is an editable PeachSoft project and is not readable as a PDF.
Good to know
Font matching reuses source font information when possible. Embedded subsets and scanned pages may require a close local font, so a match can differ slightly. OCR exports can flatten page content and may not retain links, forms or digital signatures.
Troubleshooting
- Edit text finds nothing: use OCR if the page is a scan.
- The font differs: choose Match font or set a local replacement and review the size.
- Export is blocked: apply or discard pending table edits first.
- Project JSON will not open: use Load project JSON, not Open PDF.
